Møn in 3 days
An itinerary for the island. Stege and Liselund, Møns Klint with the GeoCenter, Nyord or the Camønoen, plus variants for spring, autumn and winter
Three days are enough for the highlights of Møn if you divide the island into three parts: Stege and Liselund on the first day, Møns Klint on the second, Nyord or a hiking stage on the third. The distances are short. From Stege to the GeoCenter Møns Klint it is about 20 km and 25 minutes, from Stege to Liselund about 17 km, from the GeoCenter to Liselund 6 km and 10 minutes, and from Stege to Nyord 14 km and 17 minutes (OpenStreetMap routing, as of October 2026). The plan assumes accommodation in Borre or Klintholm Havn, so that the cliff day does not start with a long drive.
| Leg | Kilometres | Driving time |
|---|---|---|
| Stege to GeoCenter Møns Klint | about 20 | approx. 25 min |
| Stege to Klintholm Havn | about 16.5 | approx. 20 min |
| Klintholm Havn to GeoCenter | about 7 | approx. 10 min |
| GeoCenter to Liselund | 6 | approx. 10 min |
| Stege to Nyord | 14 | approx. 17 min |
Where you can eat on the three days is given for each day; the full list with opening times is on the page Restaurants on Møn.

Day 1: Stege and Liselund
The morning belongs to Stege. The walk starts at the car park of Møns Museum and leads to the Mølleporten, the only surviving one of the three medieval town gates, and on to the harbour. The museum costs 65 DKK including the Mølleporten, and visitors under 18 pay nothing. In 2026 it was open from 28 March to 18 October, Tuesday to Saturday from 11:00 to 14:00 and daily from 10:00 to 16:00 in the summer holidays. Parking at the museum costs 30 DKK for 24 hours (museerne.dk, as of October 2026). Without the museum an hour is enough.
Most people eat lunch in Stege. According to the operator, the Det Gamle Bryghus in the courtyard of Luffes Gård is open daily from 12:00 to 16:00 and from 17:00 to 21:00, and David's at Storegade 11 Monday to Friday from 10:00 to 17:00 and at weekends from 10:00 to 16:00; reservations there are by phone only (as of October 2026). More places are on the page Restaurants on Møn.
In the afternoon you drive about 17 km to Liselund. The park is open daily from 07:00 to 22:00 and free of charge, and parking there is free. Between the ponds stand the Swiss Cottage, the Chinese Pavilion and the Norwegian House. You see the small castle itself only on a guided tour: in 2026 the castle tours ran from 1 July to 30 September at 11:00 and 13:00 and cost 85 DKK. Cycling is not allowed in the park (liselundpark.dk, as of October 2026). Everything about the place is on the page Liselund Castle.
Day 2: Møns Klint
The cliff day begins at the GeoCenter (Stengårdsvej 8, Borre). Admission in 2026 was 155 DKK for adults, ten kroner less online, and children aged 3 to 11 pay 100 DKK; parking costs 45 DKK (moensklint.dk, as of October 2026). Plan the morning for the exhibition and the 3D cinema; the Café Møns Klint on the terrace follows the GeoCenter's hours.
In the afternoon you go down to the beach. The Maglevandstrappen at the GeoCenter has 497 steps and, according to Naturstyrelsen, is the longest staircase in Denmark; the Grårygtrappen has 468. The climb back up takes effort. If you would rather stay in the forest, choose one of the routes at the GeoCenter: the Fossilruten with 2.3 km (1 hr 15 min) or the Biodiversitetsruten with 6.1 km (2 hrs). Observe the barriers, because collapses happen most often in winter and spring. More about the cliff is on the page Chalk cliffs of Møn.
You spend the evening in Klintholm Havn, about 7 km and 10 minutes from the GeoCenter. There you will find Restaurant Klintholm with fish cooking, ND122 (usually Thursday to Saturday) and the Pizzeria Portofino, which according to its listing is open in the evening all year. Details are on the page Klintholm Havn.
Day 3: Nyord or a Camønoen stage
Nyord variant. The small island lies 14 km from Stege and is reached over a bridge via Ulvshale. Driving is forbidden in the village; you park at the village entrance or at the Hyldevang Naturcenter and walk about 10 minutes. Worth seeing are the village with thatched farms, the octagonal church of 1846 and the bird tower in the meadows. On the meadows south of the road, entry is forbidden from 15 March to 15 July (Naturstyrelsen). Café Noorbohandelen is open daily from 11:00 to 17:00 from Easter to the autumn holidays, and only at weekends in the winter half-year. On the way back the beach at Ulvshale is worth a stop. More on the page Nyord.
Camønoen variant. If you want to be on foot, take one stage of the long-distance trail. The Cliff Stage measures 16.6 km from Pension Elmehøj to Villa Huno, is moderate and hilly, and fits the cliff day. The Juniper Stage from Stege to Nyord is almost flat at 15 km (museerne.dk, as of October 2026). All stages with their lengths and the three-day variant are on the page Hiking on Møn.
Variants by season
| Time | What changes |
|---|---|
| Spring | The GeoCenter opens after the winter closure on 21 March 2027; the times from Easter 2027 were not yet fixed in October 2026. In 2026 it opened at Easter on 28 March and in May from 11:00 to 17:00. Tips for May are on the page Weather and best time to visit. |
| Autumn | In 2026 the GeoCenter was open from 11:00 to 17:00 until 9 October, and from 12:00 to 16:00 from 19 to 30 October. The museum closed on 18 October, and the summer buses ran until 31 October. |
| Winter | Day 2 without the exhibition: the cliff and forest paths, plus the Elmelunde Kirke with its wall paintings, open daily 09:00 to 20:00. Many businesses open only on individual days, Præstekilde for example until 14 December Thursday to Saturday. |

FAQ
Are three days enough for Møn?
For the highlights, yes: Stege, Liselund, Møns Klint with the GeoCenter and Nyord can be spread over three days. If you also want a beach, a bike ride or a whole hiking stage, allow four to seven days (driving distances: OpenStreetMap routing, as of October 2026).
What can I do on Møn in winter?
Day 2 moves outdoors, because the GeoCenter is closed from 31 October 2026 to 20 March 2027. The cliff, the forest paths, Liselund Park (daily 07:00 to 22:00) and the churches in Elmelunde and Keldby (daily 09:00 to 20:00) remain accessible. Many restaurants open only on a few days (moensklint.dk, liselundpark.dk, Keldby-Elmelunde parish, as of October 2026).
Where is the best place to stay for this plan?
In Borre or Klintholm Havn, so that the cliff day is close. From Stege to the GeoCenter it is about 20 km, from Klintholm Havn about 7 km. More places are on the page Places on Møn.
Does the plan work without a car?
With limits. You reach Stege from København H in 1 hour 49 minutes, in summer line 678 runs to the cliff with five trips a day, and in winter only line 667 runs, as far as Klintholm Havn (Rejseplanen, October 2026). Liselund and Nyord lie away from the main lines.
What does the plan cost in admission and parking?
GeoCenter 155 DKK per adult (10 DKK less online), parking there 45 DKK. Møns Museum with the Mølleporten 65 DKK, parking at the museum 30 DKK for 24 hours. Liselund Park is free, and the castle tour cost 85 DKK in 2026 (moensklint.dk, museerne.dk, liselundpark.dk, as of October 2026).
